Pokemon fans are running to Krispy Kreme today
Krispy Kreme’s display case is looking more like a Pokedex as of today. The chain just launched a new Pokemon Doughnut Collection to celebrate Pokemon’s 30th anniversary. It includes six character-inspired doughnuts, gold-dusted Doughnut Dots, collectible packaging and more.
The collection is scheduled to stick around through Sept. 13, subject to availability, and can be ordered in shops, at the drive-thru or online for pickup and delivery. You can even find specialty Pokemon six-count boxes available at select retail locations including Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Stater Brothers and others.
Krispy Kreme announced the launch on Instagram, where it went viral pretty much immediately. Pokemon fans showed up in the comments en masse, trying to make sure they could get their hands on these specialty doughnuts before they sold out.
“Is there a way to make sure kids can get these? They’re already sold out and it says while supplies last,” one commenter asked.
Many others added comments like, “Ahhhh so freaking cute!!! 😍,” “Omg these are so cute!!” and “So excited.”
The six specialty Pokemon doughnuts include:
A Bulbasaur doughnut that begins with an Original Glazed doughnut, dipped in teal-colored vanilla icing then finished with green leaves and topped with a Bulbasaur piece.
A Charmander doughnut that starts with an unglazed shell filled with chocolate toasted marshmallow filling to give it a campfire-inspired flavor. It’s then dipped in bright orange-colored caramel icing and red and gold sugar sprinkles and topped with a Charmander piece.
A Squirtle doughnut that begins with an Original Glazed doughnut that’s piped with swirls of light blue-colored, cotton candy-flavored buttercreme, then dipped in shimmery blue sanding sugar, accented with white nonpareils and finished with a surfing Squirtle piece.
A Pikachu doughnut that starts with an unglazed shell filled with lemon-flavored Kreme filling that’s dipped in bright yellow vanilla icing and topped with a lightning-shaped zig-zag of yellow nonpareils and a Pikachu piece.
A Jigglypuff doughnut that begins with an Original Glazed doughnut that’s piped with pink strawberry-flavored buttercreme, sprinkled with strawberry cookie crumbles and topped with a smiling Jigglypuff piece.
A Poke Ball doughnut that starts with an Original Glazed Doughnut that’s dipped in vanilla icing. Red sprinkles give it the red top, and a chocolate drizzle provides the stripe across the middle.
To celebrate 30 years of Pokemon, Original Glazed Doughnut Dots are now also available in collectible Pokemon cups with rotating character designs. The Doughnut Dots themselves are also now shiny gold to commemorate the moment.
