Put a fall twist on pizza!

This recipe is the perfect snack to enjoy right before the kids head out trick-or-treating, or for a cozy night at home.

This mini pumpkins are made from pie or pizza dough and are stuffed with pizza sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni and finished with a garlic butter. A pretzel stick serves as a stem, and a basil leaf gives it a garden-fresh look.

Jessica Holmes recommends not adding too much pizza sauce, so it doesn’t ooze out of the crust. She creates an orange-hued butter with turmeric and paprika, but this step is completely optional.

The kids will get a kick out of this one. It’s almost too cute to eat!

Pumpkin Stuffed Pizza Bites

  1. Roll out the dough. Using a bowl or circular cookie cutter, cut circles in the dough.
  2. Add pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni to your dough circle, then fold up all the edges of the dough and roll it into a sealed ball.

    Tip TIP: Avoid overfilling with sauce to prevent leakage.

  3. Coat twine with oil to prevent it from sticking to your pumpkins after baking. Take twine and wrap it down the middle, then cross over, create a knot and keep wrapping to create your pumpkin ridges.

    Tip TIP: You can also use several pieces of twine to create the ridges.

  4. Place your pizza-stuffed pumpkins on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
  5. Add butter and garlic into a sauce pan and heat up. Add turmeric and paprika to create an orange color.

    Tip TIP: This step is optional but adds festive color.

  6. Using a pastry brush, brush butter on your pumpkin stuffed pizza.
  7. Place pizzas in oven at 375 degrees for 20-30 mins.
  8. Let cool. Remove twine. Add pretzel for stem and basil leave. Serve on platter.
