Labubus have taken over the nation – including restaurants. The furry and colorful monster elves are making their mark on the nation’s culinary scene, from drinks to decor to dim sum. Here are some cafes and restaurants offering edible versions of the popular collectible.
Lucky Box Cafe – Houston, Texas

This blind box-inspired pop-up cafe is offering eight flavors of housemade Labubu jiggly jelly cakes, but which one you receive is a surprise. Inspired by blind boxes, where collectibles are packaged without indicating which specific version they are, a Labubu jelly cake at Lucky Box Cafe can be flavored like matcha, strawberry, mango, Thai tea, ube, chocolate, milk tea or blue lychee.
“It’s like a Jell-O-based milk tea cake,” owner Chris Doan said. “It tastes like flan.”
Lucky Box Cafe is the 30th themed pop-up Doan has hosted at Popfancy Dessert Bar, known for its elaborate themed fan cafes. Lucky Box Cafe began June 27 and will last until mid-August, with the exact end date not yet announced.
“I personally became a fan myself (of Labubus) last fall when I was touring around Taiwan,” Doan said. “I wasn’t sure if Americans would like the ugly, cute aesthetic. But, apparently I was totally wrong, because when it hit here, it hit here really hard.”

Walk inside the fan cafe to see the ceiling decorated with lightning clouds, stars, hot air balloons, and, of course, Labubus hanging from the ceiling.
Doan said the pop-up has proved to be very popular, and he sees a range of ages enjoying the cafe. He surmised that Labubu holds different meanings for each generation.
“I think for young millennials — I’m a young millennial myself — I see it as an adult comfort collectible,” he said. “So it’s kind of like if you missed out on playing dress-up for your Barbies when you were little, those nostalgic, comforting feelings.”
For Gen Z, he thinks it’s a status symbol influenced by celebrity culture, particularly prominent K-pop stars. For Gen Alpha, he thinks they see it as a subversion from conventional Kawaii cute products, like Sanrio, calling a Labubu “quirky, menacing, a little bit of a troublemaker.”
In addition to Labubu jelly cakes, Lucky Box Cafe offers Hello Kitty taiyaki sundaes, Miffy chicken salad sliders and much more.
“We want to bring these worlds to life and get people that belong to these fandoms excited to come to our cafe to find other like-minded fans to wave their freak flags free,” Doan said.

Bun World – Anaheim, Calif.

Sink your teeth into a Labubu-themed bao bun stuffed with red bean, chocolate or black sesame at this casual dumpling joint. All of the buns and dough at Bun World are handmade, said owner Lu Fang, and the colorful skins are dyed with natural fruit and vegetable powders.
Fang opened Bun World in 2023, introducing the Labubu-themed buns in May. Since introducing these themed buns, Bun World’s Instagram following has grown significantly and there’s been an increase of customers, Fang said.
“I think the Labubu craze shows that people appreciate things that are cute and fun,” she wrote in an email. “It reminds us that food can bring emotional value, not just great taste.”

Bun World will offer the Labubu buns for the foreseeable future, with plans to release seasonal limited-edition Labubu buns. It opened its second location July 9 in Ontario, California.
“Our goal is to make Bun World the most popular colorful bun brand in the U.S., combining tradition with creativity so more people can fall in love with Chinese-style buns,” Fang wrote in an email.

Rose Tea Lounge – San Jose, Calif.

Bay Area-based boba chain Rose Tea Lounge drew large crowds for its San Jose soft opening when it announced it would be offering Labubu panna cotta jellies. Available in 10 surprise colors, customers are traveling far and wide to get their hands on the jiggly dessert.
“In our first two weeks, we would sell out within like 20 minutes,” said assistant store manager Stephanie Phan.
The Labubu jellies, which are made in-house, were intended to be available just for the soft opening weekend, but customer demand was so high that Rose Tea Lounge decided to keep it on the menu – at least for now.
“We don’t know if it’ll be forever or how often,” Phan said. “So far, we can’t keep up with the demand. We sell out every day.”
The Labubu jellies aren’t just at the new San Jose location – customers can find them at Rose Tea Lounge’s five other Bay Area locations as well. But be warned, they’re not always available.

“Because so many customers have told us they literally come for it, we have upped our production of it, so we typically still have it within the first two hours of opening, and then we try to make multiple batches throughout the day, so they usually last about one to two hours after they’re available,” Phan said.
Phan herself is a big fan of Labubus. “They’re really cute yet scary, and that’s what makes it exciting,” she said.”
While she can’t say if the Labubu jellies have increased sales, Phan does think it’s driven a new customer base into the shop.
“A lot of times when I just talk to the customers, they’re literally there because they heard about it on social media, and so they want to come in and try it, so we are attracting new customers,” she said.

My Bottle Tea & Coffee – San Jose, Calif.

My Bottle owner Polly Pham only began offering Labubu milk pudding a few weeks ago, and she said she’s already seen a sizable increase in sales.
Find four housemade flavors of Labubu milk pudding in four distinct colors. Customers can either select their flavor (strawberry, matcha, peach or chocolate) or choose the blind box option, where the flavor is a surprise. The pudding can be added to a beverage or ordered by itself.
“Especially the kids, when they get it, they love to see them,” Pham said. “They don’t want to eat them because it’s too cute.”

While originally intended to be a seasonal item, Pham said she plans to continue to offer Labubu milk pudding for the foreseeable future due to its popularity. My Bottle also offers other milk puddings, including those shaped like cat paws, Hello Kitty and a block of cheese.
Pham started My Bottle as a home business before opening her brick and mortar last year. She said the joy on customers’ faces when they receive their Labubu milk pudding has been a huge motivation for her.
