Whether you prefer your cookies crispy or chewy, chocolatey or fruit-studded, bakeries across the nation are hoping you’ll celebrate the sweet treat Thursday, Dec. 4.
National Cookie Day was first established in 1987 by Matt Nader, the founder of Blue Chip Cookie Company. He selected the date to fall during the holiday season, when cookie-making and eating is popular. However, Nader wasn’t the first to proclaim National Cookie Day, which first appeared on Sesame Street’s calendar in 1976, according to National Day Calendar.
In honor of this sweet holiday, here are 10 ways to receive free cookies — and even a chance at free cookies for a year.
