Fans call out Starbucks’ ‘Hannah Montana’-inspired refresher for using a flavor the character hated

Starbucks has released a new “Hannah Montana”-inspired drink ahead of the franchise’s upcoming 20th anniversary special, but fans say the coffee chain may have forgotten one key detail about the pop star’s preferences when crafting the drink.

The bright pink beverage, called the Secret Popstar Refresher, is a grande Strawberry Acai Refresher with raspberry cold foam, two pumps of raspberry syrup, and no strawberry inclusions.

But longtime viewers immediately pointed out that the fictional singer famously hated raspberries, a plot point from Season 1, Episode 25, “Smells Like Teen Sellout.”

“Whoever came up with this needs their Hannah Montana fan card REVOKED,” one user posted on X.

Another fan wrote on Threads, “Hey @starbucks… There was literally an entire episode about Miley hating the smell of raspberries 😭 As Hannah Montana said, ‘everybody makes mistakes.’ You had the opportunity for a lavender lemonade or a loco hot cocoa RIGHT THERE.”

Some fans suggested the drink might be intentionally ironic, leaning into the show’s lore for the anniversary celebration.

The secret menu item is available through the Starbucks app.

The Hannah Montana anniversary special will be available to stream on Disney+ on Tuesday.
