McDonald’s is bringing back McDonaldland, a whimsical land filled with “apple pie trees and hamburger patches,” for the first time in more than two decades.
Guests can “visit” McDonaldland via a limited-time meal featuring collectible tins featuring inspired by McDonaldland characters including Ronald McDonald, Grimace and Hamburglar. The tins — six in total — contain “postcards, stickers and more, each inspired by the different characters.”
The meals also come with a choice of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, fries, and a limited-edition Mt. McDonaldland Shake, said to be inspired by a fictional McDonaldland landmark.
“It’s up to you to discover the surprise flavor” of the milkshake, McDonald’s writes.
The meals will be available beginning Aug. 12.

McDonaldland was introduced to guests in 1971. The fictional world was presented as the home of Ronald McDonald and his fellow McDonald’s mascots, which, at different times, included Mayor McCheese, Officer Big Mac and Captain Crook (a former character obsessed with Filet-O-Fish sandwiches).
