Spicy McMuffin among new McDonald’s items available this month

A new entrée option. A returning fan-favorite. A sweet little treat. A spicy breakfast sandwich. They’re all on a McDonald’s menu (or will be soon) near you.

Since June, McDonald’s has unveiled several new or returning menu items.

The return of the Snack Wrap

The highlight for many may be the return of the Snack Wrap. After months of teasing, McDonald’s announced early last month that the chicken wraps would finally be available again. In December, Joe Erlinger, U.S. president for McDonald’s, confirmed that Snack Wraps would return in 2025, pointing to its somewhat of a “cult-following.

New burger may be on a McDonald’s menu near you: What to know

It’s been several years since Snack Wraps were available in the U.S. The wraps — variations of which can still be found internationally — contained chicken, lettuce, and cheese all wrapped in a warm tortilla. They launched in 2006 and were later followed by an Angus offering. The latter was dropped in 2013 as McDonald’s made menu changes, while the original Snack Wrap was removed in 2016 over complaints that it took too long to make.

Some individual franchises held onto the Snack Wraps, but in 2020, the offerings were removed from all U.S. McDonald’s restaurants. In the years since, there have been petitionssocial media campaigns, and even failed attempts to use celebrity endorsements of the Snack Wraps as leverage to bring them back.

The Snack Wraps will officially return on Thursday, July 10.

Spicy breakfast sandwiches, sweet new pie

On Tuesday, McDonald’s also debuted a spicy twist on its breakfast sandwiches. At participating restaurants, you can now order a Spicy Egg McMuffin (original or sausage), with or without egg. They’re essentially made the same way as traditional McMuffins, albeit with the addition of “a shot of McDonald’s signature Spicy Pepper Sauce.”

McDonald’s has already been using the sauce on its Spicy McCrispy chicken sandwich.

If you prefer sweet over spicy, you may want to opt for the Blueberry & Crème Pie. Like the aforementioned Spicy Sausage McMuffin, this is a variation of a McDonald’s offering you’re probably already familiar with: its hot pies.

This sleeved pie has blueberries and vanilla creme within a crust. Blueberry & Crème Pies are available nationwide while supplies last, according to McDonald’s.

The Daily Double

Need a more substantial meal than a warm pie? You could try the new burger, the Daily Double.

Available through the end of the year, the Daily Double was already available at about 6,000 restaurants, the company told Nexstar, including locations in Chicago, Miami, and Seattle. The burger is similar to the McDouble, featuring two all-beef patties, a slice of American cheese, and slivered onions, as well as shredded lettuce, mayo, and two slices of tomatoes.

You may have had it before. An online blog shows the Daily Double — with one slice of tomato instead of two — was introduced in 2012. Some on Reddit, however, said they’ve been ordering the burger since the 1990s. Others report that their restaurant has it under another name, the “McDouble Deluxe.”

While the burger is already on menus nationwide, it will become part of the McValue Meal Deal bundle on July 22. McDonald’s launched its value menu earlier this year, aiming to give patrons “even more ways to enjoy the food they love, for less.”

The Big Mac was nearly called something entirely different

The McValue menu, first announced in November, comprises nationwide, local, and app-based offers. As such, some offers — the local and app-based offers — may only be available to customers in certain regions or at certain franchise locations.

McDonald’s has built a reputation for resurrecting retired offerings, like the McRib, the Holiday Pie, a dipping sauce initially launched as a promotion for a 1990s Disney movie, and Halloween pails.

The fast food giant did, however, just end a partnership with another restaurant chain, Krispy Kreme. Late last month, the pair announced they had decided to end their union, which brought doughnuts to select McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.
