16 fast food chains that offer treats for your dog, too

These 16 chains offer paw-fectly tasty treats for dogs

The next time you go for a coffee run or ice cream break, make sure to take your dog – plenty of chains offer pup cups, dog biscuits and even pup patties. More and more fast food chains are offering treats for dogs.

The term “puppuccino” was created in 2008 by pet rescue advocate and barista Rocky Kanaka, according to The Dog Bakery. (Puppuccinos even have their own food holiday, with Sept. 23 being National Puppuccino Day). Also known as a pup cup, a puppuccino is a small cup of whipped cream given to dogs as a treat. Many coffee shops will give out pup cups for free, while others will charge a small fee.

But some chains are going beyond the puppuccino, with Ben & Jerry’s curating desserts specifically for dogs and Shake Shack offering a “Woof” menu. While not all of these pup treats may be available, depending on location, here are 16 chains where you may be able to snag a treat for your furry friend.

Baskin-Robbins

While not officially on the menu, some Baskin-Robbins locations offer small cups of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for dogs. A Facebook post from July shows one Baskin-Robbins location even topped its pup cup with a drizzle of peanut butter and a Milk-Bone.

Ben & Jerry’s

If you’re craving Half Baked or Cherry Garcia, have your dog join in on the fun with Ben & Jerry’s Doggie Desserts. Made with sunflower butter and very limited amounts of dairy, these dog-friendly ice creams are designed to be easy on your pup’s stomach.

Doggie Desserts come in two flavors: Rosie’s Batch, made with pumpkin and mini cookies, and Pontch’s Mix, made with peanut butter and pretzel swirls.

Chick-fil-A

Some Chik-fil-A stores offer dog treats and/or pup cups made with whipped cream or vanilla Icedream (soft-serve ice cream).

Culver’s

Some Culver’s locations offer a small scoop of vanilla custard or a small cup of whipped cream (sometimes even topped with peanut butter!) for four-legged companions.

Dairy Queen

Some locations offer a pup cup consisting of a small serving of vanilla soft serve, often topped with a dog biscuit. According to a post on Allrecipes, a pup cup is around $2 and consists of vanilla soft serve with whipped cream on top.

Dutch Bros

The drive-thru coffee chain offers free pup cups of grade A dairy whipped topping in special branded cups, according to a company representative.

Dunkin’

America – including dogs – runs on Dunkin’. While not an official nationwide offering, some Dunkin’ locations offer pup cups, typically a 4-ounce cup filled with whipped cream and sometimes topped with a dog biscuit or a Munchkin donut hole.

In-N-Out

When grabbing a Double-Double for yourself, you can also snag a “pup patty” for around $2. This canine treat is a plain, saltless hamburger patty.

Johnny Rockets

Some Johnny Rockets feature dog offerings on outdoor patio spaces. You may find doggy hamburgers, carob “ruffles” and ice cream treats, according to Rover.

The sit-down restaurant chain offers its own dog menu featuring complimentary bowls of water, a grilled hamburger patty or a grilled chicken breast bowl, which both come with brown rice and veggies ($6).

McDonald’s

Some McDonald’s offer a pup cup of whipped cream or vanilla soft serve, sometimes topped with a chicken nugget.

Shake Shack

Shake Shack offers a small Woof menu featuring two items: Bag O’ Bones, a doggie bag of five red velvet dog biscuits made just for Shake Shack by NYC’s Bocce’s Bakery; and the Pooch-ini, vanilla custard topped with red velvet dog biscuits.

Sonic

(Sonic)

Select Sonic locations offer a Wag Cup, a small cup of whipped cream or vanilla soft serve topped with a dog biscuit.

“Wag Cups are only available at select SONIC locations,” a company representative told SavorNation. “Those interested should check with their local SONIC on whether they offer Wag Cups.”

Most Tim Hortons offer free pup cups, or small cups of whipped cream topped with plain Timbits (doughnut holes).
