McDonald’s to introduce ‘Under $3’ menu with 10 items, but it will replace an existing deal

McDonald’s is introducing a new “Under $3” menu designed to give customers “more choice and flexibility” during all hours of business, the company announced Thursday.

The new menu options, however, will replace an existing deal structure that currently appears on the McDonald’s McValue menu, the company confirmed.

“For generations, McDonald’s has been committed to delivering great value our fans can count on,”Alyssa Buetikofer, the chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s USA, said in a statement included with Thursday’s announcement. “As our customers’ expectations evolve, we’re making it easier for them to get the value they’re looking for – on their terms.”

What’s on the Under $3 menu?

The McDonald’s Under $3 menu will feature “at least 10 menu items” (in total, throughout the day) offered for under $3 each. Those ten items include: a Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Biscuit, Sausage Burrito, Hash Browns, and a medium McCafé coffee, during breakfast hours; and a McChicken, McDouble, 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, small Fries, and a medium soft drink, during non-breakfast hours.

Some of these items included on the Under $3 menu were already priced under $3 at most locations; the new menu is intended to simplify the ordering process.

The menu officially launches on April 21.

What is the Under $3 meal replacing?

The new Under $3 menu will also replace the existing “Buy One, Add One for $1” deal structure currently available on the McValue menu. This deal allows customers to purchase an extra item for $1 with the purchase of another certain item at regular price.

The McValue Meal Deals, meanwhile, will remain on the menu. A new breakfast Meal Deal will join the offerings, featuring a choice of Sausage McMuffin or Sausage Biscuit served with hash browns and a small McCafé coffee for $4 Premium Roast Coffee – all for just $4 (before taxes) at participating restaurants.
