Scoop shop, baby-product company debut breast milk-flavored ice cream: ‘Just like mom used to make’

Finally, the taste of breast milk in scoop-able form.

Frida, a company that (normally) specializes in baby products, has partnered with Brooklyn-based ice cream brand OddFellows to create a breast milk-flavored ice cream that’s now available for shipping nationwide.

The “sweet, salty, and smooth” ice cream is not actually made with human breast milk, but rather flavored to taste “oddly familiar,” according to Frida. It is, however, made with liposomal bovine (cow) colostrum — colostrum being a nutrient-rich component of breast milk produced by mammals.

“Just like mom used to make,” Frida (inaccurately) writes of the breast milk-flavored ice cream on its website.

The limited-edition flavor is currently available for shipping nationwide on Frida’s website. In New York City, curious foodies can also try a scoop at the OddFellows location in Dumbo through August 10. (The shop is giving away free scoops between 12-1 p.m.)

New York City, meanwhile, has never been a stranger to wild and weird ice cream flavors. Over the last several years, the city was among the first to debut flavors including pizza and mac and cheese, or dole out mustard-infused scoops.
