McDonald’s is once again giving customers a fleeting taste of its seasonal pork sandwiches.
In an announcement posted on Nov. 11, McDonald’s confirmed the return of the McRib to cities including “Miami, Dallas, Cleveland, St. Louis, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles and more.” A representative for the company was unable to provide a complete list of regions where the sandwiches will be available, but urged customers to check with their local restaurants.
As always, the McRib is only available for a “limited time,” according to McDonald’s.

The sandwich, which debuted on menus in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1981, consists of a boneless pork patty, barbecue sauce, pickles and slivered onions. And despite its sporadic inclusion on the McDonald’s menu (or perhaps because of it), the McRib has gained somewhat of a cult following over the last several decades.
McDonald’s marketing executive Guillaume Huin, on X, also acknowledged that some stock and crypto traders believe the McRib’s return heralds a prosperous time for Bitcoin and the S&P500.
“Coincidentally, when the McRib returned to stores in December 2024, Bitcoin hit a new all-time high,” Huin wrote.

The McRib, however, often returns to McDonald’s in “the colder seasons” at the end of the year, a McDonald’s executive once explained — the same months that the stock market generally shows stronger returns, a wealth management expert told Investopedia last year.
McDonald’s, too, also once said the timing of “McRib szn” is influenced by demand.
“There’s a lot of mystery around why the McRib comes and goes, but to be honest it’s a local option based on consumer demand,” the company once wrote in a 2017 tweet.

“We advise customers to check their local restaurants for more information on availability in their area,” a representative for McDonald’s told Nexstar.
