McDonald’s new summer menu will make Caesar ‘salad’ fans happy

Did you know that despite its popularity here in the States, Caesar salad was actually created in Mexico? On July 4, 1924, Italian-American restaurateur Caesar Cardini was running low on supplies in his kitchen and tossed together the now iconic salad on the fly. It turned out to be a hit, and the rest is history. Today, you can find Caesar salad on virtually every menu, from fine-dining establishments to middling regional chains, and now, after a lengthy hiatus, even McDonald’s is jumping back on the savory salad bandwagon.

After what feels like a decade, Mickey D’s just announced that it’s bringing the iconic flavor of Caesar dressing back to its menus in a format that fans are already going wild over. Although the actual Caesar salad isn’t returning after being discontinued in 2020, Caesar lovers can add a dipping cup of McDonald’s all-new Caesar Sauce to any order. You read that right: Caesar Sauce has officially entered the chat.

The savory new sauce highlights the classic flavors of Caesar, including Parmesan, lemon, and garlic, to create a dip that pairs perfectly with a chicken sandwich or McDonald’s recently revamped McCrispy Strips. And while news of the sauce alone already has fans losing their minds, Mickey D’s is fully leaning into Caesar madness by introducing three new menu items featuring the beloved dressing. Starting on July 21, McDonald’s is debuting:

  • Bacon Caesar McCrispy Sandwich: A McCrispy filet topped with tangy Caesar Sauce, applewood-smoked bacon, shredded lettuce, Roma tomato, crispy onions, and crinkle-cut pickles on a toasted potato roll.
  • Caesar Snack Wrap: A McCrispy Strip topped with cheese, shredded lettuce, and Caesar sauce, all rolled in a tortilla.
  • McCrispy Strips with Caesar Sauce: 3 or 4-piece McCrispy strips with a side of Caesar Sauce for dipping.

Unfortunately, these new items, as well as the Caesar Sauce, will only be available for a limited time, so you’ll definitely want to grab them while you can. We promise not to tell if you hoard packs of sauce either. Although Caesar Sauce is only around for a limited time, it at least signals that McDonald’s is listening to the fans. And who knows, maybe they’ll end up making it a permanent addition to the menu. Stranger things have happened.
