National Pizza Day: Here are 16 deals for Feb. 9

Whether you like your pizza with thin or thick crust, topped with pepperoni or polarizing pineapple, Feb. 9 is a day to celebrate the remarkable pie.

Pizza’s history begins in Naples, Italy, in the 1700s, where street vendors sold inexpensive flatbreads adorned with various toppings, including tomatoes, cheese, oil, anchovies and garlic to the working class, according to History.com. When King Umberto I and Queen Margherita visited Naples in 1889, the queen became entranced by the version that was topped with white cheese, red tomatoes and green basil. This combination is now dubbed pizza Margherita.

Today, many regional pizza specialties exist in the United States, including New York-style, Chicago deep-dish, Detroit-style, Sicilian and California-style.

Beginning Feb. 9, BJ’s is adding its Large Deep Dish Pizza to BJ’s Pizza Party Mondays, dropping the price to just $19.99 on Mondays, according to a company representative. BJ’s recently reformulated its deep dish pizza recipe after nearly five decades.

Blaze Pizza

The build-your-own pizza chain is offering guests a digital deal discounting the price of one large one-topping pizza. While pricing differs depending on location, the average price will be $13.29, confirmed a company spokesperson. A two-topping pizza with a drink will be just $10 with a digital deal.

California Pizza Kitchen

CPK is bringing back its heart-shaped pizzas from Feb. 9-15.

Chuck E. Cheese

The arcade and pizza restaurant is offering $5 large one-topping pizzas with a games purchase from Feb. 9-12 for National Pizza Day. Fun Passholders can receive the deal without the games purchase, a company spokesperson confirmed.

Donatos Pizza

The Ohio-based pizza chain is offering $5 off signature pizzas for National Pizza Day, according to a company representative.

Gopuff

The delivery service is offering discounts on a variety of pizzas: $3 off stuffed DiGiorno pizza, two-for-$15 on DiGorno rising crust pizzas, two-for-$9 on DiGornio personal pizzas, $3 off California Pizza Kitchen full-sized pizza and two-for-$8 on California Pizza Kitchen personal pizzas.

Lou Malnati’s

The Chicago-based chain offers three Malnati Meal Deals for carryout and delivery: Feed 2 for $20, Feed 5 for $35 and Feed 6 for under $50. Additionally, the pizzeria recently launched a limited-time offering, the Trippple Peppp, with sliced, cupped and stripped pepperoni.

Matchbox Pizza

The DMV-based pizza chain is offering a pizza BOGO in all of its 11 stores and online with code BOGOFREE on National Pizza Day, according to a company representative.

MOD Pizza

MOD Pizza loyalty members can enjoy pizzas for just $9 on National Pizza Day.

To score the free pizza, place an order of $7.99 or more through the Pizza Hut app or on its website for carryout or delivery. Within 24-48 hours after placing the order, members will receive a coupon for a free large one-topping pizza in the app.
