Fall officially begins in about a week and a half, and retailers everywhere are using this time to hype customers up for Halloween. (Though several of them started months ago — looking at you, Home Depot and Hobby Lobby!)
Costco has already stocked its shelves with 5.5-pound Belgian chocolate Frankenstein-themed heads; Starbucks is releasing a limited-edition “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” Peanuts collection on Sept. 15 (and yes, I will be standing in line at 4 a.m. for it); and Shake Shack? Well, they’re spooking fans with a brand-new menu item: A 1,900-calorie shake.
Shake Shack’s Halloween shake has 1,900 calories
Yes, you read that correctly. Shake Shack’s Halloween-themed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Shake contains 1,900 calories. For a little comparison, even Dunkin’s notoriously sweet Pumpkin Pie Coffee Chiller tops out at 1,140 calories for a large. Considering the recommended daily caloric intake for most adults sits somewhere between 1,600 and 2,400 calories per day, this single drink is basically an entire day’s worth of food in one cup.
Shop your favorite Reese’s peanut butter treats on Amazon
That said, I’m not here to judge. Everyone needs a little treat every now and again, and the ingredient list does sound delicious. Shake Shack describes it as a “Halloween treat worth adding to the rotation all season long, no costume required.”

According to the official press release, the shake is made with vanilla frozen custard, hand-spun with Reese’s Creamy Peanut Butter and fudge sauce, poured into a crackable dark chocolate shell, and topped with whipped cream, Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups and chopped Reese’s Pieces.
The internet is losing it over the 1,900-calorie treat
Still, the internet reactions have been top-tier. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services even chimed in on X with a Shaquille O’Neal meme making a “time-out” gesture, while one of my personal favorite comments summed it up perfectly: “First bite tastes like heaven, second bite takes you there.”
Lighter fast-food peanut butter shakes to try
If 1,900 calories feels a bit too intense, you’ve definitely got options. You could blend up a lighter peanut butter shake at home, or swing by a different drive-thru. A Sonic Blast made with Reese’s comes in at 450 calories for a Mini, while the Reese’s Cup milkshake at Cook Out — which happens to be the chain’s third most-ordered milkshake — clocks in at 894 calories. So clearly, people are ordering over-the-top peanut butter shakes all the time anyway.
And honestly? At the end of the day, in my opinion, nothing beats a Shake Shack run.
