If there’s one thing millennials can collectively agree on, it’s that peak childhood was cashing in your BOOK IT! reading stars for a free Personal Pan Pizza. For more than 40 years, Pizza Hut has basically been bribing kids to read with the promise of melted cheese, and honestly? It worked.
Now, Pizza Hut has found a way to bring that nostalgia to your front yard. In celebration of National Book Month and National Pizza Month (both of which are in October), the chain is teaming up with the nonprofit Little Free Library (LFL) to launch “Little Hut Libraries” — miniature Pizza Hut restaurant replicas that double as neighborhood book exchanges. These tiny huts are reviving the BOOK IT! magic for a whole new generation (and I am here for this wholesome news).
How to get a Little Hut Library for your neighborhood
Pizza Hut and LFL are giving away 24 huts, and all you have to do to get one is fill out an online application.
If you’re selected, you’ll get:
- A fully assembled, red roof-inspired Little Hut Library and a wood post kit (or stand).
- An official LFL charter sign and a Pizza Hut plaque.
- A starter bundle of 25 new books selected by LFL to stock your shelves.
But the best part? Pizza Hut is also throwing in a stash of actual BOOK IT! goodies, including buttons, a T-shirt, and a select number of Personal Pan Pizza coupons, so you can reward your neighbors for picking up a book.
What if you already have a Little Free Library?
If you’re already a registered LFL steward, you don’t have to miss out on the nostalgia. In tandem with the new rollout, LFL and Pizza Hut are hosting a steward-exclusive giveaway.
