Starbucks has new summer drinks and ‘scheduled ordering’
Summer is just about here, and that means a new seasonal menu drop from Starbucks. This time, we are getting drinks that truly scream summer, featuring tropical colors, refreshing iced blends and a totally whimsical cake pop. Starbucks has also announced a new scheduled ordering system that will allow U.S. customers to schedule a specific time to pick up their mobile order. The new drinks hit May 12, so let’s take a look and see what we’re going to order.

First things first — the drinks. The summer menu features a Tropical Butterfly Refresher, the return of the Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso and the new Horchata Frappuccino. The new Refresher features guava and passionfruit flavors and mango-pineapple flavored pearls. It also has a butterfly pea flower infusion which gives the drink its vibrant, tropical color. It can be customized with lemonade or coconut milk, along with your preferred blend of caffeine and B vitamins.
How to order off Starbucks’ secret ‘Devil Wears Prada’ menu
The Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso is made with the chain’s Blonde Espresso and horchata syrup, for a flavor combo of cinnamon, vanilla and toasted rice. The drink is shaken with ice and finished with oatmilk.

New drinks aren’t the only menu updates — they’re also rolling out a Unicorn Cake Pop which is exactly as adorable as it sounds. It’s made of vanilla-confetti cake dipped in white-chocolate icing, featuring a cute unicorn face, of course.

Another summer update is the coffee chain’s new scheduled ordering feature that will be available in the Starbucks app starting today, May 11. Customers going to U.S.-based coffeehouses can place an order up to one hour ahead of time by choosing a specific pick-up time for their mobile order. All the better to make sure you’re having as much summer fun as possible instead of waiting around for your Unicorn Cake Pop and Tropical Butterfly Refresher.
