Sure, there’s a world where Rocket Pop-flavored baked beans are great, but it’s also totally okay to not and say we did, you know? Some things are just better left separate. Like Crumbl’s latest innovation, the unsurprisingly polarizing Flamin’ Lime Crunch Cookie. As its name suggests, this cookie features the tangy flavor of lime blended with the familiar tongue-torching heat of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. We know this sounds like some horrendously late April Fools’ joke, but we promise it’s as real as they come.
This mind-boggling sweet features a lime sugar cookie rolled in crushed spicy cheese crisps, then topped with tangy cream cheese frosting coated in a spicy cheese crisp streusel. The cookie is then finished with spicy, crunchy cheese crisps and a fresh lime wedge. In theory, all of these flavors should work together. Tart, citrusy lime, spicy, savory heat, and even the subtle acidity of the cream cheese frosting make pretty logical sense. But as it turns out, fans aren’t impressed and, well, let’s just say this is one flavor that should have stayed in the test kitchen.

After being on menus for just a few days, fans have flooded the comments section under Crumbl’s Instagram post as well as its website with critiques ranging from gentle suggestions like the idea to make the cookie corn-flavored to outright rebuke. “Don’t do this again… 🙄,” quipped one fan. Another person opted out entirely, saying, “ Yeah, y’all are getting blocked…” That being said, a deeper dive into the sea of complaints surrounding the divisive flavor seems to have less to do with the cookie’s flavor and more with the overall execution.
Several fans who have tried the cookie report that the actual spicy cheese crisps are stale and unappealing. Part of the reason for the lapse in quality could be the higher moisture content in a cookie affecting the exterior coating, as well as the amount of time it has to sit after being prepared, although it’s hard to pinpoint exactly. Luckily, this was only a limited-time flavor, and judging by the response, we might not see it again for a while.
And to give you even more hope that the franken-flavor was a fluke, this week’s Crumbl menu includes a more approachable Peach Ring Cookie, a Chocolate Cola Brownie and a Shirley Temple Cookie. There’s also a Dirty Soda Tres Leches Cake, but we’ll wait for the internet’s verdict to find out if it’s worth a try.
