Wendy’s launches contest to hire ‘Chief Tasting Officer,’ a role that pays $100K

Wendy’s is hosting a contest to find a Chief Tasting Officer and is offering a six‑figure salary for the role.

The fast-food chain said the Chief Tasting Officer will serve as an independent contractor with a $100,000 salary and will create promotional content.

“Basically, you’ll get paid to eat Wendy’s, be chill, maybe make some content and maybe even star in ads,” the company said in a contest promo.

Entrants must submit a 60 second video explaining why they “need the opportunity of becoming Wendy’s Chief Tasting Officer,” according to the official contest rules. Wendy’s encourages participants to feature the chain’s branding, food, or restaurants in their submissions.

Videos can be posted on TikTok or Instagram using the hashtag #WendysCTOContest, or uploaded through a registration form on wendyschieftastingofficer.com.

A panel of judges will select 10 finalists based on creativity, brand love, brand safety, personality and potential, with each category weighted at 20%. Entries that include Wendy’s products, logos, or branding will receive an additional five points.

Finalists will then participate in an interview, which will be judged on execution, reach, uniqueness and willingness, each weighted at 25%, according to the contest rules.

The contest will close on March 30 at 11:59 p.m. EST or 8:59 p.m. PT.

The news comes amid the viral “burger wars” which kicked off after Chris Kempczinski, McDonald’s president and CEO, posted a video promoting the chain’s newest burger, the Big Arch.
