Costco is now offering the option of bottled water instead of soda for its famous Hot Dog Combo
Nothing is inevitable in this life except death, taxes and buying a $1.50 Hot Dog Combo every time you visit Costco.
Everyone’s favorite superstore just made a rare update to its famous Hot Dog Combo. The combo has for years come with a refillable 20-ounce soda. This is an amazing deal for people who drink soda, but not very exciting for people who don’t. Something about fountain ice water just doesn’t hit the same. But for the first time ever, shoppers will be able to choose a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature Water, as reported by an Instagram user over the weekend and confirmed by Costco to USA Today.

In 2022, then Costco CFO Richard Galanti said that the hot dog and soda combo would stay at $1.50 “forever.” Then in 2022 Galanti explained the price may not actually be safe forever after his departure. But as The Hill reported, it’s been just over a year since Galanti left the company and CEO Ron Vachris has confirmed that the value price of the combo meal Costco shoppers have come to rely on isn’t going anywhere. “The hot dog price will not change as long as I’m around,” he confirmed in a recent interview.
Whether you grab your Hot Dog Combo before you shop or on the way to the car, a water bottle is no doubt a great alternative to carrying around a 20-ounce refillable soda cup with condensation dripping everywhere. And proof that some beloved traditions can be tweaked without being ruined.
