Domino's emergency pizza for red card at World Cup

Domino’s to give away $1M in pizza if US gets a red card at the World Cup

We’ve got just under a month until raucous soccer fans (or football fans, depending on the country) descend upon 11 host cities in the U.S. for the sport’s biggest event, the FIFA World Cup. Players will be duking it out with nothing more than their dizzying footwork in hopes of being crowned the winners of the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy and obvious bragging rights. It’s a high-stakes event that’s sure to bring out some of the players’ more intense competitive nature, and in the event that things get a bit too hot under the collar, Domino’s is on standby with relief in the form of free pizza.

How to score a free ‘Emergency Pizza’ from Domino’s

In the event that a U.S. national team player gets hit with the dreaded red card during the game, Domino’s has pledged to give away up to $1 million worth of “Emergency Pizzas.” To take advantage of the promotion, fans can sign up in advance by visiting their “Emergency Pizzas for Soccer” site to claim one of more than 60,000 free medium two‑topping pizzas. The goal (pun intended) is to help ease the pain of the U.S. squad taking a penalty that has the potential to completely shift the game in the other team’s favor. In the event that a red card is called, lucky fans must use their “Emergency Pizza” coupon by Aug. 2, 2026.

What’s a red card anyway?

For those of you not up on your soccer lingo, a red card is issued when a player does something so egregious that the ref issues a penalty that completely removes them from the game without a substitute. That could be anything from getting violent with another player to getting more than two yellow cards in one game. Once the offending player is removed, the team has to then play the game at a disadvantage, which can shift the entire trajectory of the match. It’s a game-changing moment that deserves free pizza. An “emergency pizza,” if you will.

More ways to score free pizza

Of course, despite Domino’s promotion, no one is actually rooting for a red card. Sure, we’ll take a free pizza, but we’d also rather see our team take home the prize. The good news is you can still score free pizza without having to wait for an on-field brawl. In addition to giving away free pizza for the big game, Domino’s also announced that it’s giving away 75,000 free pizzas to EA Sports FC 26 players through June 5. According to the company, players who log in on Fridays during the promotion period will receive a unique code for a free medium two-topping pizza.

As if that wasn’t enough, Domino’s is also going all out on soccer-themed merch for the World Cup in a buzzy new partnership with Saturdays Football. The trendy collection features four jerseys, a baseball cap and a pair of pie slides decked out in Domino’s red and blue. Talk about cheering on your favorite team in style. At the very least, if your team doesn’t win, you can score a delicious pizza to fill the void, and can you really complain about that?
