Seemingly for the heck of it, Dunkin’ is giving away 1 million coffees to customers and rewards members on May 19.
The promotion was first teased Monday on Dunkin’s Instagram stories, via a “Wanted”-style poster showing a photo of an iced coffee. The poster teased “1,000,000 free coffees” and instructed followers to “turn yourself in to Dunkin’” on Tuesday. But no other details were made available.
On Tuesday morning, however, a representative for Dunkin’ confirmed to SavorNation that customers can redeem their free coffee by using the coupon code “coffeeisfree” in the Dunkin’ app.

Once the code is entered, Dunkin’ rewards members will receive a virtual certificate redeemable for one hot or iced coffee (excluding cold brew, or extra-large hot coffees). The certificate is valid for the next seven days, a spokesperson for the company confirmed.
Customers can add the promotion to their in-app order, or scan their app in-store to redeem the coffee. No other purchase is necessary.
When asked why Dunkin’ was offering its free coffee promotion, a spokesperson simply said the following: “Just for fun!”
Dunkin’ has offered similar promotions in the past, including one at the beginning of April for “1,000,001” free coffees. The chain is also partnering with the Joy in Childhood Foundation for a promotion on May 27 (aka “Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day”) and donating $1 from every purchase of iced coffee toward efforts to fight childhood hunger and illness.
