About this recipe

Tiring out on bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches? Maybe it’s time to wrap your head around a breakfast “bubble ring.”

A bubble ring — a close cousin to monkey bread — is a baked dish made by layering pieces of dough with other sweet or savory ingredients to create a pull-apart treat perfect for families or large gatherings. And, if you can get up early enough, they’re great for breakfast, too.

RECIPE: Maple crumb cinnamon rolls — made with pizza dough

Tawnya Rush, the host of KSVI’s “Meals in a Rush,” developed the perfect breakfast bubble ring made with biscuit dough, cheese, green chilis, and both bacon and sausage. (Because why not?)

Intrigued? You bet you are. Watch the video above for Rush’s pointers, then get started with the recipe below.

Directions

Breakfast Bubble Ring

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Open the 2 cans of biscuit dough. Cut each biscuit into quarters with a scissors. Set aside.
  3. In a greased Bundt pan, begin layering the ingredients, starting with about half of the sliced biscuit dough, half the melted butter and half the shredded cheese. Add the chilies, eggs, sausage and bacon, and top with the remaining biscuit dough, butter and cheese.
  4. Mix lightly, with your hands, so as not to smash or flatten the biscuits.

Tip TIP: This will create the bubble look after cooked.

  5. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, removing the pan about halfway through to loosen the dough from the sides of the pan with a fork.
  6. Bake until the dough is risen and golden brown on the outside.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool.
  8. If needed, loosen the edges of the ring with a butter knife, then flip the bubble ring onto a serving dish and enjoy.
