About this recipe

David Brooks from the Made in Oklahoma Coalition is making a twist on an old Oklahoma breakfast staple – with beef jerky.

“It tastes like roast beef when you rehydrate it for 15-20 minutes,” he said.

How to make indulgent peppermint brownies

Simply add shredded cheddar cheese and granulated garlic to a pack of biscuit mix. Meanwhile, prepare the gravy, mixing in rehydrated beef jerky. The dish is a great breakfast treat, and it can even be eaten on the go by packing the gravy in a thermos and dipping in the biscuit.

Ingredients

Beef Jerky Biscuits with Gravy

Directions

Beef Jerky Biscuits with Gravy

  1. Prepare the biscuits according to the packaging instructions, using whole milk, shredded cheddar cheese and granulated garlic.
  2. For the gravy, cut the jerky into workable pieces by slicing strips the length of the jerky, then cutting across the grain.
  3. Add the cut jerky to 1½ cups water and bring to a boil.
  4. Combine the gravy mix with the remaining ½ cup water, then whisk into the boiling jerky mixture.
