Five Guys has a super rare free burger deal this week

Five Guys has a BOGO burger deal for its 40th birthday this week

As we rub our eyes and pour a third coffee to survive daylight saving time, some good fast food burger news has hit our desk. Last month, Five Guys turned 40 and as a gift to customers, ran a BOGO burger deal. It seems they got a far larger response than expected and stores struggled to meet the meat demand. That’s why they’re giving it another go this week so they can get back in our good burger graces.

“On February 17 – the 40th birthday of Five Guys – we invited fans to celebrate with us. The response to our birthday buy one burger, get one free (BOGO) promotion was unlike anything we’ve seen,” the chain explains in a statement obtained by Savor Nation. “You visited our restaurants in overwhelming numbers, and we weren’t ready for you.  We didn’t meet our own standards, and that’s not something we take lightly. So, we’re asking for a do-over.”

How to get Five Guys’ free burger deal this week

This week from March 9-12, Five Guys is running a 40th After Party to make up for the mishaps last month when people simply flooded stores for the chance to get the most expensive fast food burger out there for half the usual price (BOGO divided by two, guys). The company is also shouting out its employees, who dealt with the unexpectedly huge onslaught of burger-seekers admirably. “Our store crews were put in an incredibly difficult position, and the way they performed under pressure did not go unnoticed,” the statement reads. “As a thank you, Five Guys will distribute approximately $1.5 million in bonuses to store employees across our system.”

In order to cash in on this second try double burger offer, you have to order it through the Five Guys website or the Five Guys app. Purchase one burger at the regular price and received the second one for free using the code FGAFTERPARTY.

A couple of things we love are happening here – hard-working employees being acknowledged for dealing with a Burgermageddon situation and customers getting a second chance at a free burger after the first try didn’t go so well. Five Guys is doing the right thing but also, if you’re gonna sell the most expensive fast food burger out there, you better come correct with the deals.
