Budweiser giving fans $6 to buy their own beer for America’s 250th: How to get one

In honor of the country’s upcoming birthday, Budweiser is giving eligible Americans the chance to earn a $6 gift card they can spend on a beer (if they like) as a “thank you” for generations of patronage.

“Covering America’s tab is our way of turning gratitude into action: to thank the hardworking people who’ve made Budweiser part of everyday life, and to give them a chance to share a beer, reconnect and celebrate the resilience and spirit that have defined this country for generations,” Todd Allen, the senior vice president of Budweiser’s marketing at Anheuser-Busch, said in a press release.

In order to redeem a $6 gift card from Anheuser-Busch, U.S. residents aged 21 and over must visit US.Budweiser.com/AmericaTab starting on June 29 and provide their name, email address, birthdate and zip code. If “verified,” eligible participants will receive a $6 payment (via email) in the form of a digital gift card, according to the promotion’s official rules. Fans can apply for a chance to redeem their $6 gift cards through July 5, or until the $150,000 “tab” runs out.

The promotion — which Budweiser is calling “America’s Tab” — is open to legal residents of the United States, with the exception of residents of California and Texas. A representative for Anheuser-Busch was not immediately available to share further details of eligibility restrictions in California and Texas.

More information, including the terms and conditions of the America’s Tab promotion, can be found at Budweiser’s website.

As part of its patriotic initiatives, Budweiser will also be donating a portion of its revenues from bars and restaurants (up to $1.5 million) to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that helps provide scholarships to the children of fallen military service members.

Americans are expected to spend a collective $4 billion on beer and wine ahead of July 4, according to a recent analysis from WalletHub. A study conducted by Morning Consult also found beer to be the beverage that America’s most closely associate with the country.
