About this recipe
You could combine Lipton onion soup mix with sour cream to make French onion dip in a pinch, but this homemade version is loads better.
Dean Richards recommends making this dip the night before you plan on serving it. That way the flavors marinate and the dip is properly chilled.
This creamy whipped feta dip with hot honey is perfect for football game watching
Start by caramelizing your onions low and slow. This process takes 25-30 minutes, but it’s absolutely worth it. Then add the caramelized onions to a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream and mayo. Full-fat sour cream is best, but you could use low-fat or even yogurt.
Serve the dip with plain crinkle-cut potato chips for a decadent snack perfect for Super Bowl or any get-together.
